lent Journey to Easter

 How to use this Guide

During the season of Lent (3/2 - 4/17) join us as we engage in these 4 practices for the purpose of focusing on the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus. 


1. Fast

If possible do it within community by inviting your friends, family or community to join you. Pick from option 1, 2, or 3 or a combination. 

  1. Remove a habit or pattern that you would like to break or redefine. (Social Media, Television, A certain kind of food - ex. Sugar, Soda, etc.)

  2. Fast from food for one 12 or 24 hour period during lent.

  3. Fast from food for 12 or 24 hours one time a week.

2. Pray

  • God What do I need to learn about you?

  • Search my heart and reveal areas that you want to redeem.

  • Break my heart for what breaks yours.

  • Who in your life needs the redemptive power of Jesus. (Pick 3 people to pray for)

 

3. Read

During this month of fasting, prioritize reading Scripture.

  1. Use your current reading plan

  2. Utilize YouVersion Bible App to discover a plan that interests you.

  3. Use the Sermon Series Plan “The Story Formed Way” below:

  • Week 1 - Genesis 1-2

  • Week 2 - Genesis 3

  • Week 3 - Ruth 1-4

  • Week 4 - Matthew 27

  • Week 5 - Acts 1:1-11

  • Week 6 - Revelation 1-3

  • Week 7 - John 20:3-29

4. Journal

Set a time (daily, weekly) to journal by following the prompts below:

  • Write 3 things you’re grateful for

  • Share your prayer requests with the Lord.

  • Listen: What are you reading in the Bible? What stands out? What is God placing on your heart?

  • How did God reveal Himself to you today?
